Process for exchanging drill fitting on gas pipes or household water mains

The fitting (2) is to be replaced is pushed by one fitting width onto the pipe line (1) by a new fitting (3) whilst maintaining the seals between the pipe line and fittings. The new fitting is mounted on the pipe line directly next to the old fitting whilst producing an additional seal between the housings of the two fittings. The two fittings can be connected together into a fixed displacement unit before introducing the displacement forces. These fittings an be connected by a common clamping yoke (4) and pressed against the pipe line to maintain the seals. The displacement force can be exerted by two parallel hydraulic cylinders (8,9) which can be set between a clip (11) and counter holder (13) firmly connectable with the pipeline.
