In a developer stirring appts. having interconnected parallel stirring paths (1,2) with stirrer screws (3,4) for stirring and transporting developer from one path to the other via connecting openings (A,B): (a) one stirrer screw has a supply device (32) which, on screw rotation, transports developer to the other screw and which faces an intermediate connecting opening (B); and (b) the other stirrer screw has a distributor (42) which receives developer from the supply device (32) and which distributes the developer to opposite ends of the screw, the distributor (42) facing the intermediate opening (B). Also claimed are a developing appts. and a picture forming unit of design similar to that above.
