Airbag safety system has a housing, with an airbag holder and a cover for the folded airbag, and a generator chamber, which adjoins the airbag through a diffusor providing uniform distribution and ensuring protection against damage by solid particles. The novelty is that the housing (1) is formed by a covered section of an extruded tubular profile which has an inner contour narrowing to an open slit (8) facing the airbag and with side webs (10), forming an airbag-holding chamber (9) and having recessed retaining grooves (12,13,14) for fixing the airbag and the cover.
