Elastic mounting for rack-and-pinion automotive steering gear

The mounting has two guides (14) spaced apart in the lengthwise direction of the steering-gear which are secured to the steering gearbox (1). Each of these contains two mirror-image bodies (15) in line with each other and tapering towards the middle, a passage extending through each in the lengthwise direction. A damping component (16) on the outside of each body has a wall thickness greater in the vehicle lengthwise direction than in the transverse direction. The inside surface of the guide forms a mating portion for the outside of the body with damping component. The two opposite bodies with damping components are pre-loaded against each other to a definite degree in the axial direction.
