A spray housing attached to a water supply is fitted with round cleaning brushes (6) which can be rotated by muscle power. At least each two spray nozzles (7) are arranged so that when the shoe is inserted they each meet half of the shoe sole from below and when the shoe is removed they impinge on the circular brushes (5) at the sides so that these are set in rotation to spin off dirt etc. A hand spray with flat jet nozzle insert and hose supply pipe are preferably included. The side roller brushes can project through an opening in the inner side walls (13) of the device. Otherwise these side walls are closed to collect up the water spray. The front and back wall of the cleaning shaft can form dirt scrapers.
