System for wrapping sausage products

The axially gathered sausage tube (14) is held tensioned between two axial stops (30,32) as it passes through the tube of wrapping material (10). After passing through the tube the rear end of the sausage tube is held from outside through the adjoining wrapping material. The axial stops are then drawn back from the sausage tube inside the wrapping material which is then closed at the end. Support rings are placed on the gathering mandrel against both ends of the tube (14), are then held together with the tube between the retaining edges and stops and are then enclosed by the wrapping material.
