A fuel mixture control system for a car has a first device to evaluate the oxygen component of the exhaust gas, and to give a corresponding signal. A second device uses this signal to control the input of fuel. It has an amplifier-hysteresis element which activates selectively the hysteresis in the control loop after the appearance of noise on the signal and to deactivate this hysteresis in the absence of noise. The hysteresis element has a choice of two different loop widths and there is an additional logic element to choose one according to operating conditions of the control system.
