The anti-sleep spectacles include a cable carrying a signal to an infrared diode situated on the nose bridge of the spectacles. This diode transmits an infrared signal towards the user's eye. A photodiode (2) fastened to the spectacle side piece (8) detects the reflection of this IR signal from the surface of the eye. A screw (3) allows the position of the detecting photodiode to be adjusted accurately. An electronic monitoring circuit is connected to the diodes, and includes an integrator (FGH) and a monostable operating for a second (K) together with a gate. If the IR signal is lost for more than a second, then a buzzer is activated to produce a sharp sound.
