The backrest (18,22) swivels relative to the seat against spring force through a guide rod (16). The seat (14) is supported by a foot part (10) through a spring assembly (54) which pretensions the seat and engages on the guide rod which supports the backrest (18,22). The spring unit comprises a series connection of gas spring and coil spring. The gas spring is supported by its piston rod on the foot part and its housing supports a lower spring seat for the lower end of the coil spring. A seat surface part (60) is made from resilient material such as laminated wood and can be connected rotationally secured to the guide rod.
