Energy analyser for charged particles

The energy analyser has an inner cylinder (2) arranged coaxially inside an outer cylinder (1) with an intermediate space between the two. Different electrical potentials are applied to the cylinders so that a charged particle in the intermediate space experiences a force effect from the prevailing electrical field in the direction of the inner cylinder. A particle source (3), a particle detector (4) are arranged on the cylinder axis. An exit aperture is arranged in front of the particle detector. The particle source is arranged outside the cylinders. An entry electrode is arranged between the particle source and cylinders, having an entry opening for the passage of charged particles.
