Sealing component for diaphragm or labyrinth glands

The sealing component comprises a layer which is made of a combination of metal and hard particles (5). The hard particles (5) are in the form of cylinders, cubes, columns, truncated-cones or pyramids making up the composite coating (3). The particles are regularly shaped bodies with at least one flattened surface (6). The flattened surfaces free of metal have parallel faces and are positioned in mosaic formation in a sealing surface (7). The remaining surfaces of the bodies are anchored in a metal matrix (4) bonding the hard particles together onto the sealing component (8). The coating is placed on protuberances, ridges, collars, rings and sealing points of the component; on the tips of turbine blades or of labyrinth seals for turbine shafts and housings.
