The characters or the diagram is displayed on a sereen of a projection television by using an infrared pen. The infrared beam is passed through a screen (5) and reflected by a mirror (4) to guide the infrared beam to a lenz (6). The infra red beam through the lenz (6) is reflected by a mirror (9) and the reflected infrared beam is scanned by an image scanner (10). The scanned image signal is processed by a signal processor (11) and stored on a memory (12). The image data stored in the memory (12) is read out by a wave form generater (13) and mixed with video signal of the television.
