Tamper-evident sealed packaging container and its method of manufacture.

The invention relates to a packaging container having a tray (1) with a cover (2). The cover is sealed to the upper edge of the tray along a first seal (8) in the flange region (6) of said tray (1), the first seal (8) lying outside a line of weakening (7) formed in the cover. A second, peelable seal (9), either continuous with or separate from the first seal (8), is also provided between the cover (2) and the tray flange (6) and is positioned inwardly of the line of weakening (7). In this manner a tamper-evident yet efficient seal is provided in the container such that no additional membrane is required. The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing the container.
