A fastening assembly Fig. 1, comprises a male fastener element 12 with a generally frustoconical head portion 16, the base 26 of the head portion having a sharp edge 28, and a female fastener element provided with opposed spaced apart spring fingers 38 adapted to slide readily over the head portion of the male fastener element, the sharp edge 28 then engaging and digging into portions of the fingers 38 which are of softer material than the sharp edge 28 to interengage the fastener elements. In the embodiment shown the male fastener element 12 is of metal and is secured e.g. by welding to an automobile body 10. The female fastener is of synthetic resin material and comprises a bridge portion 30 with depending legs 32 integral with resilient feet 34 which frictionally engage in channels 24 of a trim strip 20 secured on the body 10 by means of the fastening assembly. The spring fingers are folded out of the general plane of the bridge portion 30 and have converging faces 40 to ease assembly of the female and male elements, and faces 42 engaged and deformed by the edge 28. In a second embodiment the female element, Fig. 4, has a superstructure, comprising transverse arches 74 and longitudinal beams 72, which conforms to the internal shape of the trim strip. The beams 72 are integral with the fingers 38 and the latter are grooved adjacent the bridge portions 30 to provide the desired resiliency. |
