<p>PURPOSE:To achieve the attainment of low current, and the miniaturization of a device by applying a higher voltage than an on-vehicle battery voltage to the input terminal of a motor-operated power steering control unit, and further by making it possible to charge the battery via a control circuit having step-up and step-down functions. CONSTITUTION:In the captioned device, the power of an electric motor 7 is transmitted to a pinion 9 engaging with the rack 5 of a steering mechanism via a speed reducer 8 so as to assist the steering force. The motor 7 is electrification-controlled by a control unit 11 on the basis of the output of a torque sensor 3. In this case, the output voltage of a charging generator 15 being driven by an engine 14 is set higher than the voltage of a battery 13. And during the rotation of the engine, the output power of the charging generator 15 is supplied to the motor 7 via a full wave rectifier 16, and further the voltage stepped down via a step-up/step-down chopper circuit 12 is supplied to the battery 13 respectively. On the other hand, when the engine is stopped, the electric power stepped up via the step-up/step-down chopper circuit 12 is supplied to the electric motor 7.</p> |
