RECOMBINANT ADENOVIRUS VACCINE

PURPOSE: To obtain a vaccine that contains living recombinant adenovirus and can induce an antibody or cell mediated immunity against human immunodeficiency virus in mammals. CONSTITUTION: This vaccine contains a living recombinant adenovirus and comprises a first-step vaccine that is prepared in an intranasal administration form and a second-step vaccine that contains a subunit protein of human immunodeficiency virus I and is prepared in an intramuscular administration form. The virion structural protein of the recombinant adenovirus is not changed from that of the wild adenovirus for producing the recombinant adenovirus, in addition, the recombinant adenovirus is originated from the MN strain of human immunodeficiency virus I and contains a gene encoding an antigen inducing the antigen corresponding to this antibody or an antigen inducing the cell- mediated immunity. This vaccine is useful for prevention of infection with human immunodeficiency virus I in mammals.
