TREATMENT METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR UTILIZING WASTE THERMOSETTING PLASTIC

PURPOSE:To reutilize waste thermosetting plastic as a recycle material by treating the surface of the powder or ground material of waste thermosetting plastic with a polymerizable monomer or a derivative thereof and heating the treated powder or ground material of the waste thermosetting plastic. CONSTITUTION:A waste thermosetting plastic powder or a ground material obtained by grinding a molded product is treated with radioactive rays in air. A radical is formed in the plastic and reacted with oxygen in air to form peroxide. Next, the treated waste thermosetting plastic is treated with a polymerizable monomer or a derivative thereof to be heated. By this heating, peroxide in the treated waste thermosetting plastic is decomposed to form a radical. This radical is reacted with the polymerizable monomer to bring about thermal polymerization to form a mixed solid consisting of the waste thermosetting plastic and a thermoplastic resin.
