PURPOSE:To reduce the number of expensive memory circuits. CONSTITUTION:When a transmitter applies interleaving to a signal subject to error correction coding, the transmitter interleaves data strings S1, S2 corresponding to a 1st path signal with a depth D1 and interleaves data strings S3, S4 corresponding to a 2nd path signal with a depth D2 deeper than the depth D1. An interleave control circuit 51 makes control so that four interleavers 31, 32, 23, 24 are operated synchronously with each other. The interleaved data string is subject to quadrature amplitude modulation by a modulator 12. A demodulator 13 of a receiver demodulates the signal and uses de-interleavers 33, 34, 27, 28 to de-interleave the signal by a reverse procedure to that of the transmitter and corrects errors. |
