PURPOSE:To provide an optical compensation sheet which can be used for a liquid crystal display element for improving visual characteristics of display contrast and display color. CONSTITUTION:An optical compensation sheet has a mono-domain film containing discotheque liquid crystal compound capable of forming a discotheque nematic phase or a uniaxial polar phase, or a thin film of the discotheque nematic phase or uniaxial polar phase formed of the discotheque liquid crystal compound.
