PURPOSE:To prevent dielectric breakdown of an orientation film caused by static electricity by subjecting fiber bristles on a rubbing cloth to antistatic finish. CONSTITUTION:A rubbing cloth 1 has a fabric part 2 consisting of cotton, etc., where a number of fiber bristles 3 are implanted. These bristles 3 are made of chemical fiber such as rayon or nylon, and lauryl alcohol sulfuric acid ester Na salt as a surface active agent is applied to the surface of each bristle 3. This lowers the electric resistance value of the rubbing cloth 1 so that electricity run off easily. Accordingly electrostatic charges accumulated on an orientation film is lessened which is caused by contact frictions with the bristles 3, and it is possible to preclude damage of the film due to dielectric breakdown. Besides the charge preventive effect, excellent flatness and smoothness are obtained, which allows suppressing deterioration of the bristles 3 due to friction. |
