PURPOSE: To provide a full color thermal ink jet printer capable of optimally trading off a full color mode at a maximum possible speed in a monochromatic mode. CONSTITUTION: The ink jet printer comprises a print head 20 for selectively injecting an ink of the type previously selected on a base, and a means 12 for moving the head along a route to the base. The head has first and second linear arrays, are fixed and arranged at least in a superposed relation with each other, extended across the route, and the first and second arrays have a plurality of sections, respectively having ejectors for injecting the ink of pre-selected different colors. |
