PURPOSE: To obtain a dental composition capable of forming a dental prosthesis having excellent physical properties, especially high impact strength and comprising a single component thermosetting composition not containing a volatile monomer. CONSTITUTION: This one-compound polymerizable composition comprises an acrylic monomer having at least one, preferably at least two pieces of acrylic residues and at least 200 gram molecular weight, containing <5 wt.% of a low molecular weight polymerizable acrylic compound having <200 gram molecular weight. The composition is subjected to heat curing at 115-240 deg.F, preferably 140-220 deg.F for 0.25-24 hrs, preferably 0.5-15 hrs in a mold whose inner wall has the shape of a dental prosthesis. The resultant dental prosthesis has a flexural strength of at least 2×10<4> times, preferably at least 5×10<4> times prior to fatigue by using a denture base flexural fatigue tester and has at least 2.5 ft.1b/in, preferably at least 3.0 ft.1b/in Izod impact strength without a notch in measuring by a modified ASTM-D256.
