PURPOSE:To make scientific and industrial use possible by preset the atmosphere so that the intensity of chemical luminescence of a material is metered. CONSTITUTION:A substant S is placed in a container 1, in which an insulating material 15 and a heater 16 are arranged in its double structure, and a lens 4a is mounted to an aperture 2. A photoelectric converting unit 6, in which a photoelectron multiplier 6a and a cooler 6b are mounted in a box 6c, is mounted in position to a dark box 3. Then, the temperature control unit 9 of atmosphere prestting means A is operated so that a heater 16 is supplied with power to maintain the container 1 at a constant temperature. On the other hand, Ar is fed to the container 1 from an atmophere control unit 10. When a unit 5 for protecting the photoelectric converting element is opened, the chemical luminescence having passed through the lens 4a and the filter 4b reaches the tube 6a of metering means B. The current generated in the tube 6a is recorded through multiplying units 7a and 7b in a recorder and is fed to a comparing operational device 11 so that the degree of deterioration is indicated in an indicator 12. |
