PURPOSE:To prevent an electrifying member from being damaged and to form a good image having a long service life by specifying the relation among the length of the electrifying member, the effective width of the photoreceptive layer coating area of a member to be electrified, the developing width of a developing device, and the vibrating width of the electrifying member. CONSTITUTION:When the length of the electrifying member 5 in a longitudinal direction is defined as A, the effective width of the photoreceptive layer applied area 1a of the member 1 to be electrified in the longitudinal direction as B, the developing width of the developing device in the longitudinal direction as C, the vibrating width of the member 5 as D, and the length of the member 1 in the longitudinal direction of a cleaning member as E, then the device is constituted so that equations C+D<A<B-C, and C<E<A+D are satisfied. In this case, the electrifying member (electrifying brush) 5 is obtained by sticking fiber having a resistance value adjusted to a desired value by adjusting distributed amount for carbon on rayon, or a conductive fiber cloth 5a on which a fiber assembly is flocked on a conductive substrate (aluminum, iron, etc.) 5b. The electrifying brush 5 vibrates in a direction perpendicular to a photoreceptor moving direction by a vibrating mechanism. |
