PURPOSE:To provide a lithium secondary battery which has high capacity and the long charge and discharge cycle service life by composing a carbonaceous material of a pitch type particle whose optical anisotropic tissue develops at random and which has an average particle diameter of specificmum. CONSTITUTION:A lithium secondary battery having a positive electrode 3, a negative electrode composed of a carbonaceous material capable of storing and releasing a lithium ion and lithium ion conductive electrolyte, is provided. Here, the carbonaceous material is composed of a pitch type particle whose optical anisotropic tissue develops at random and which has an average particle diameter of 1 to 100mum. Here, in the negative electrode, Ni expanded metal as a negative electrode current collector 8 is arranged on and welded and fixed to an inside surface of a negative electrode vessel 9 composed of stainless steel having a thickness, for example, of 0.3mm. On the other hand, in the positive electrode, a stainless steel positive electrode current collector 2 is arranged so as to be inscribed in an inside surface of a positive electrode vessel 1 composed of stainless steel having the thickness, for example, of O.3mm, and V2O5 powder and graphite powder are mixed together, and powder-like polytetrafluoroethylene is added, and is kneaded, and the positive electrode 3 is formed by pressurizing molding. |
