PURPOSE:To reduce the operations by a user when originating a call to an opposite side mobile station housed in the same base station by automatically originating a call in a second speaking mode when the opposite side mobile station does not respond in the case of originating a call from the mobile station to the opposite side mobile station inside the same base station in a first speaking mode. CONSTITUTION:A mobile station 2 is radio connected through a radio part composed of an antenna AT, high frequency part 21A, radio control part 21C and radio interface part 21D to the base station. When the call is originated to the opposite side mobile station directly by operating an opposite side extension number corresponding to an opposite side mobile station ID for performing inter-mobile station direct speaking but synchronism with the opposite side mobile station is not established within fixed time, the subscriber number of the opposite side mobile station is retrieved from this ID and a normal speaking mode is started for automatically originating a call to the base station based on this subscriber number. On the other hand, when the synchronism with the opposite side mobile station is established in the case of inter- mobile station direct call origination but the response of the party is not detected within prescribed time, the normal speaking mode through the base station is similarly started.
