PURPOSE:To prevent reverse tilt domain and to improve display grade by rubbing high polymer films formed on the surfaces of substrates in the direction of the components of the rubbing direction head toward the inside of the regions of display electrodes from auxiliary capacitances. CONSTITUTION:The gate lines 10a, 10b among the gate lines 10a, 10b and gate electrodes 11 formed on the transparent substrates extend partly as auxiliary capacitance electrodes to a display region. Display electrodes 12 are formed in the display region on an insulating film covering these electrodes and are partly superposed via a dielectric film on the extension parts of the gate lines 10a, 10b, by which the additive type auxiliary capacitances 13 are formed. These capacitances are then coated with the high polymer films and are so rubbed that the row direction components of the rubbing direction head toward the gate lines 10a facing each other via the inside of the region of the display electrodes 12 from the auxiliary capacitances 13. As a result, the structure to provide the side where the angle formed by the substrate surfaces and electric lines of force attains a sharp angle with a pretilt angle is obtd. Inclination in the same direction is resulted in all the regions and the generation of reverse tilt domains is prevented. |
