PURPOSE:To simultaneously and spatially exchange optical signals whose wavelengths are multiplexed by multiplexing the wavelengths, separating the optical signal having wavelengths more than one from the plural optical signals and adding the optical signal having wavelength the same as that of the optical signal. CONSTITUTION:In an optical signal exchange switch, optical signal combining distributors 13a and 13b, plural optical signal combining units 18a-18h, plural wavelength separation means 14a-14h, a controller 15 and plural optical signal lines 17a-17h are combined, and plural unit switch elements 10A and 10B are connected. Consequently, the optical signal having wavelengths more than one is separated from the plural optical signals whose wavelengths are multiplexed, and the optical signal having wavelength the dame as that of the separated optical signal is added so as to simultaneously and spatially exchange the plural optical signals. Thus, many transmitted optical signals can simultaneously be exchanged, an the optical signals whose wavelengths are multiplexed can spatially and simultaneously be exchanged. |
