PURPOSE:To prolong the service life of a backup battery by making a displaying means to not display the present time when the dislay of the present time is not required so as to prevent the useless power consumption of electronic equipment. CONSTITUTION:Electronic equipment has a microcomputer 4 equipped with a time counting means which counts the present time, displaying element 5 which displays the present time counted by the counting means, and commercial power supply system 1 which energizes the computer 4 and element 5. The equipmwnt also has a backup battery 9 which energizes the computer 4 and element 5 when the energization of the computer 4 and element 5 from the system 1 is interrupted and a display turning-off switch 10 which turns off the display of the element 5 when the display of the present time is not required by interrupting the energization of the element 5 only. Since the switch 10 turns off the display of the present time by the element 5 by interrupting the energization of the element 5 when the display of the present time is not required, useless power consumption of this electronic equipment can be prevented. |
