The heat exchanger consists of a series of flat parallel tubes (10) assembled between two tubular manifolds (12), with each tube comprising an elongated body (14) with two ends (16) fitting into slots (18) in the manifolds. The end of each tube is twisted in relation to its body for a portion of limited length, so that its outlet end (30) lies at an angle to the body of the tube. Each manifold slot (18) forms an angle to the manifold's transverse axis equivalent to the twist angle of each tube end, and the length of each slot is lower than or equal to the inner diameter of a manifold. The spaces between the flat tubes can contain corrugated fins (20) which cover the whole length of the tubes apart from the twisted ends, and the tubes and manifolds are made from aluminium or an alloy of it, and are joined together by brazing.
