PURPOSE:To prevent compressor lubricating oil from being expanded by providing an upper limit of a compressor when discharge temperature for detecting an outdoor side load is less than a set value in the case of an ordinary operation, and further providing the upper limit of the compressor operation frequency even in a start of operation after a stand-by period. CONSTITUTION:A discharge temperature detection part 1 is provided for detecting discharge temperature of a compressor, and in a microcomputer 2 into which an output signal of the discharge temperature detection part 1 is input it is judged whether or not the operation is a defrosting operation, and provided the operation is other than defrosting, a comparator part 3 compares the discharge temperature and set temperature A, and provided the discharge temperature is lower than the set temperature A, the compressor operation frequency is restricted to frequency E. In contrast, in the case of defrosting operation the discharge temperature and the set temperature B are compared with each other, and when it is lower than the set temperature B, the operation is performed at target operation frequency, while when it is higher than the set temperature B, it is compared with the next set temperature C. Provided it is lower than the set temperature C, the compressor operation frequency is lowered to a frequency F, while provided it is higher than the set temperature C and is higher than set temperature D, the compressor is brought to stop.
