Concrete-sleeper filler-body for two track widths

The body (16) is for a prestressed-concrete railway sleeper (1) usable for two different widths of track. Between the supporting surfaces for the rail feet of both tracks is a continuous slide surface for the rails between the outer support of the wider track and the inner support of the narrower one. Fixing devices for both tracks are provided when the sleeper is produced. The body positively closes the recess for the inner support of the rails of the wider track (18), so as to transmit thrust loads in the axial direction of the sleeper, and is movable from the first to the second position before changing the rails (17) over. It can consists of a prefabricated concrete component fitting in the groove-type recess (3), and secured to the sleeper by adhesive. Alternatively it can be of steel, bridging the groove edges and glued to the sleeper.
