The bending machine has a clamping mechanism (10) with two jaws (5, 6) moved together and apart on a first axis (A) to grip and release the work (4). It includes actuators (20) for bending tools (18). The tools are on components (14) hinging at the jaw ends on axes (15) parallel to the jaw faces and at right angles to the first axis. These move between the retracted position behind the jaw faces into the working one protruding in front of them. In the latter position, each tool can be near the end edge of the opposite jaw. Each of the latter can be of strip or rectangular shape, and there can be two or more bending tools at the end edges of each jaw. USE/ADVANTAGE - Bending machine produces widely differing shapes from oblong work in particular.
