The commutating poles (7) are arranged offset relative to the direction of rotation of the motor next to the trailing edge of the preceding field pole (8). The commutating poles (7) only have one pole horn (9) directed to geometrically neutral zones. The pole horn (9) is arranged in the region of the geometrically neutral zone. The pole core of the commutating pole (7) is arranged outside this region (11). The pole core width (A) corresponds to the measurement (B) from the inside of the pole horn (9) to the edge of the commutating pole adjacent the field pole (8). The distance or opening (C) between the commutating pole (7) and the adjacent field pole (8) corresponds to the diameter (10) of the recess at the pole core behind the horns. The bore (5) for fastening the pole packet is arranged in the region between the pole horn (9) of the commutator pole and that of the edge of the field pole (8). The space (13) for cooling air to flow through, to cool the armature is provided between the horns. A further chamber (14) is provided at the stator to cool the field pole (8). The core of the field pole is located in the chamber (14) such that its edges have the same strength as those of the stator terminals.
