The invention relates to a gas valve for a gas cylinder provided with a housing having a through-passage, which connects the interior of the gas cylinder to a discharge/inlet port, and with a control member which can be moved between a first position, in which the control member keeps a closure member in a position shutting off the through-passage, and a second position in which the closure member opens up the connection between the through-passage and the discharge/inlet port. At least one sealing member cooperating with the control member is present, so that the gas valve cannot, without the removal of the sealing member, be moved into a position in which gas can flow into the cylinder via the discharge/inlet port and the through-passage.
