A housed resistor is used for the control or damping of electric and electronic components of high quality for the application in the field of electrical engineering as well as for other applications in the control and automatic control technique. In order to create a space-saving housing resistor with a low own weight and a high loss performance, an insulating layer (3), a resistive element (4) and another insulating layer (5) are arranged between a bottom plate (1) and a top plate (2). In the top plate (2) there are provided several passage (6) through each of which there is provided a cable connector (7) which is connected with the resistive element (4) in an electrically conductive manner and which is electrically insulated relative to the bottom plate (1) and the top plate (2). The bottom plate (1) and the top plate (2) each have a profile form which consists of right-angled folds (14, 15, 16, 17) which serve to protect the edges of the resistive element. Fold (15) is used for mounting means (18) and may be at 45 DEG or planar with the plate (1). <IMAGE>
