A piston pump has the stroke profile comprising a flange (20) located on the piston (6) and extending at an angle to its axis of rotation (7), and a cam which is a dowel (22) guided radially in the pump housing (1) with a freely rotating roller (21) located on the dowel. The flange sits on this roller on its side facing away from the pump chamber. The pump housing has radial projection (23) above the roller extending above the side of the flange facing the pump chamber. The size of the free space between the projection and the roller is marginally larger than the thickness of the flange.
