In the liquid jet printing method a dynamic matching takes place between the delay time for the control impulse with regard to the path signals of the recording medium and the temporal fluctuations of the relative speed of the recording medium. The dynamic matching involves associating a nominal or desired delay time with a nominal or desired speed. The actual speed of the relative movement of the recording medium is determined and an actual delay time is determined for a fixed deviation of the actual speed from the desired speed.
