Print control impulse optimum phase determining method

In the method of defining an optimum phase of electrical control impulses for generating image points with regard to a drop forming process synchronized with an excitation frequency of a continuous liquid jet printing method the waveform of the jet current is attenuated for adjusting the phase position. The zero passing point of the alternating current portion is evaluated. The optimum phase of the measurement impulse, with regard to the excitation frequency is calculated from the value of the phase angle for the zero passing point and an added constant angle value, which corresponds to a predefined current value for which an adequate phase position of the test signal to the drop break-down time point is accepted.
