In an adjustable buffer, esp. for movable automobile body parts such as bonnets and boot lids, having a threaded adjusting bolt for adjusting the spacing between the movable body part and the fixed bodywork, the bolt thread (6) engages a press-in nut (2), the female thread (21) of which is divided by an inclined bore (22) into two diametrally opposite thread halves (23,24). Pref. the buffer is made of a thermoplastics, esp. polyoxymethylene.
