An apparatus for automatically rolling one or more turns of tape upon a stationary article, such as a threaded pipe end, comprises a rotatable plate 57, Fig. 3, a plurality of rollers 67, 68, 69 carried by arms 70, 71, 72 pivotally mounted on the plate 57 such that the rollers 67, 68, 69 can be swung towards each other and against the article to be wrapped, a supply of tape 98 mounted on one of the arms 71, means 147 for moving the supply of tape 98 relatively to the arm 71 to position the tape end between the roller 68 and the article to be wrapped, means for causing the plate 57 to rotate to cause the tape to be wrapped round the stationary article, means for causing the tape supply to move back to its original setting relatively to the arm 71, and a knife for cutting the tape between the roller 68 and the tape supply 98. Extending through the centre of the plate 57 is a pin 178, Fig. 23, such that the article 193 to be wrapped can be pushed against this pin. When the pin 178 has been pushed inwardly sufficiently it causes switch 182 to close to initiate a wrapping cycle. By manually turning the knob 191, the amount by which the pin 178 initially projects from the plate 57 can be adjusted to vary the location at which the tape 113 will be applied to the end 192 of the article 193. |
