[Also in Division C3] A playball comprises a core portion made from a blend of a rubber and a thermoplastic homopolymer of styrene or a substituted styrene, or a thermoplastic copolymer of styrene or a substituted styrene with (i) acrylonitrile or a substituted acrylonitrile and/or (ii) an alkyl acrylate or methacrylate and/or (iii) a diene. In Example 6 a core is made from a blend of polystyrene, polybutadiene and natural rubber containing lead carbonate sand peroxide and cured. The core is then covered with a composition comprising an ethylene methacrylic acid copolymer and polybutadiene and assembled and cured to form a golf ball. |
