The present antitheft system for bicycles aims to lock a bicycle so that it is fixed to the ground and cannot be stolen. The system comprises a chain with an eyelet at one end. This unit cannot be sawn or cut through. The other end is unreleasably fixed to, for example, a post which is anchored in the ground. The present system can be used in combination with a so-called Royal Dutch Touring Club lock, which is fitted on 70 to 80% of all bicycles. The eyelet is designed in such a manner that the locking part of the Royal Dutch Touring Club lock can be pushed through it. The result is an unreleasable unit, so that the bicycle can no longer be stolen.
