<p>This invention concerns a mechanical tufting head (1). In particular it concerns a tufting head suitable for use in a hand-held tufting gun, or for automated use in the production of individualised carpets or rugs. The tufting head comprises a tufting needle mount (6) connected to the lower end of a hollow shaft (7) the hollow shaft being mounted for rotation about the axis of the yarn path and able to reciprocate along it. The head also includes a blade carriage (14) mounted about the hollow shaft (7) such that the blade carriage (14) is able to rotate with respect to the axis of the yarn path and reciprocate along the hollow shaft (7).</p> |
