The transpiration of water in Indian corn, sorghum and millet plants, which assists in permitting growth of these plants in locations subject to perennial lack of water or temporary drought, is reduced by treating the plants or the soil in which the plants have been sown or are to be sown with a pyridazone derivative of the general formula <IMAGE> where R denotes unsubstituted phenyl, phenyl mono- or poly-substituted by halogen or alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, unsubstituted cyclohexyl, or cyclohexyl mono- or poly-substituted by halogen or alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms and R<1> denotes chlorine or bromine. |
