In a dynamo-electric machine rotor e.g. of a water powered generator having a vertical shaft, comprising a rotor ring 3 supported by a rotor centre 2 having axially spaced end plates 7 stiffened by radially extending web plates 8, and axially extending ring-support slide bars 10 engaging attachment rails 9 keying with axially extending slots at the rotor ring radially inner surface and allowing free radial expansion of the ring, each slide bar 10 is welded to a fixing plate 12 rigidly fixed to one end plate 7, e.g. by welding after machining of the bars 10 to receive the rails 9 and assembly of the rotor ring and rotor centre. The rails comprise two or more wedges 9a, 9b flanked by filling pieces 11, and the radial expansion slide surfaces, between wedges and pieces 11 or pieces 11 and the bars 10, are coated with PTFE. The bars 10 are attached to the plates 8 by parts 13. The ring 3 comprises overlapping plate segments bolted together and having dovetail slots 5 carrying wound polepieces. |
