1,179,289. Geneva mechanisms. E. SCHEUBECK. 6 Oct., 1967 [14 Oct., 1966], No. 45689/67. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division H1] In a Geneva mechanism for actuating a transformer tap changer, the slots 37, 38 of a Geneva wheel 31 engageable by a pin 35 on a driving crank 33 are of different shapes and at different angular spacings so that in some steps the wheel 31 is advanced through a greater angle than in others. As shown, equi-spaced slots 37 have arcuate outwardly diverging sides to their outer portions, while a single straight radial slot 38 is spaced from the adjacent slots 37 by a greater distance than the distance between neighbouring slots 37. Two similar Geneva wheels 31, 32 mounted coaxially and connected to respective contact arms of a tap changer are advanced alternately by pins 35, 36 on opposite arms of the crank 33, which moves between the two wheels and has the pins 35, 36 on axially opposite sides (Fig. 2, not shown). The wheel 32 has two radial slots 38<SP>1</SP>. |
