The instrument has a reading dial (1) decorated with an image (6) independent of the symbols (5) which are indicative of the measurement value. The image is intended to counterbalance the influence of the outside environment on the attention of the operator when taking a measurement, by compelling him to have to focus his gaze on the aforesaid symbols and to concentrate his attention on the measurement value which they represent. <IMAGE>
