PURPOSE:To provide a wire, in which a breakage rate in wire drawing can be reduced, strength sufficient for the use is provided in spite of its small diameter, and consequently, high strength and high tensile strength are provided, for a wire saw so as to accomplish cutting with good cut dimension precision. CONSTITUTION:A high carbon steel wire consisting of 0.80-0.95% by weight of carbon, 0.60-1.20% by weight of silica, 0.30-0.90% by weight of manganese, 0.10-1.00% by weight of nickel, the rest of iron, and unavoidable impurities is thinned by patenting and wire drawing, and a wire, which is provided with a diameter of 0.08-0.15mm and tensile strength of 3200N/mm<2> or more, for a wire saw is obtained. |
