PURPOSE: To obtain a microcapsule having a given size, consisting of acetylsalicylic acid(ASA) coated with a coating composition, and capable of controlling ASA release over the whole length of the digestive tract. CONSTITUTION: This microcapsule consists of an ASA particle 10-100μm in size coated with a coating composition of a mixture of a cellulose-based film- forming polymer derivative, anti-tack agent, plasticizer, lubricant and vinyl-based film-forming polymer derivative. In the case of a single oral administration of the microcapsules at 75-320 mg, ASA absorption is induced over 24 h or longer. ASA absorption levels based on the portion to be absorbed are as follows: <=10 wt.% at 0.4 h after orally administered, <=50 wt.% at 3.9 h after orally administered, and <=90 wt.% at 23 h after orally administered. The microcapsules, for inhibiting thromboxane, can be used for preparing a selective aspirin galenical preparation, esp. being applicable, as a platelet aggregation inhibitor, against cardiovascular diseases.
